  Originally I was going to let this slide, but I remembered how furious I was at the time and that I vowed to leave an honest review regardless of how the situation ended. I speak on behalf of my former house mates because they felt similarly. This review is for the broker of our apt.,Sam Fini, who works for AVA Realty. Moving in, Sam was a great guy. Professional, straightforward and helpful. Most of our requests were addressed in a quick manner. For example, whenever we had certain issues, be it the dryer, sink, bathroom, or internet he would address them asap. I had nothing against him until we decided to move out. It was in this period of time his attitude towards us made me feel differently. He started to make irrelevant and personal remarks in our conversation through email, and was very unprofessional in his tone. During inspection, he mentioned that other than dirty areas, normal wear and tear, and a few carpet stains, there was not any severe damages. According to him, our deductions should have be no more than $200-300 for cleaning and carpet steaming. Weeks later, through email, he claimed that we trashed the apartment and the carpet stains required a new carpet totaling up to $3,000 in damages. The way he responded to us was completely different than the way he responded to us in person. Furious, enraged, and fed up with the way he treated us we let him know we were going to take it to court. We were confident cleaning would not have costed that much. It took around 2 months of back and forth non-sense before he agreed to give us back $2800/$3600 of our security deposit. Because of how the situation ended, I rate it one star. Maintain professionalism throughout and do not try to take your tenants money, please. Note to future tenants: TAKE BEFORE AND AFTER PICTURES.
